As I admired the familiar tree in my backyard, a bird swooped down out of the tree to grab a bit of moss that was right in front of me. I watched him return to the tree and hop from branch to branch. I realized that this single tree was full of birds. Each moment, new birds came and went, their unique voices mixing together in the trees above. I set up my easel and started to paint this bit of paradise. Each morning, I would go out to the same spot and set up my easel. Branch by branch, one bird at a time, I added to my painting a few of the visitors who passed through my tree this summer. This painting contains a Savannah Sparrow, Blue J, Field Sparrow, Cardinal, and Red-headed Woodpecker.
